1 MILLION BOOK CAMPAIGN FOR BLACK CHILDREN

 The 1 Million Book Campaign – 

• Our Goal: Place 1 million books written by Black authors into the hands of 1 million children ages 2–12.
• Nationwide Initiative: Unite families, churches, schools, community organizations, businesses, and sponsors to promote children's literacy.
• Celebrate Black Excellence: Introduce children to books highlighting Black history, culture, achievements, creativity, and possibilities.
• Develop Lifelong Readers: Inspire a love of reading while strengthening literacy, comprehension, and learning skills.
• Build Confidence: Help children see themselves reflected in books and recognize their potential for greatness.
• Transform Educational Futures: Expand access to books and create opportunities for academic success.
• Strengthen Communities: Bring people together to invest in children's education and future leadership.
• Our Vision: One Million Books. One Million Children. Brighter Futures.

Step 1: Select Books by Black Authors - All books featured in the campaign are written by Black authors. Books are selected to introduce children ages 2–12 to meaningful stories, educational topics, cultural experiences, and inspiring achievements.

Step 2: Launch Holiday and Black History Month Book Distributions - The first distribution begins during the December 2026 holiday season, followed by another distribution in February 2027 for Black History Month. These occasions provide opportunities to introduce children to books as gifts that educate and inspire.

Step 3: Partner With Organizations That Serve Children - Churches, schools, libraries, youth organizations, after-school programs, and other community groups can participate in distributing books directly to children. These partnerships help us reach children in communities across the country.

Step 4: Invite Everyone to Sponsor and Support - Individuals, families, businesses, authors, churches, and community leaders can sponsor books, contribute resources, establish partnerships, or share the campaign with others. Every contribution helps expand the number of children we can reach.

Step 5: Encourage Children to Become Lifelong Readers - Children who receive books will be encouraged to participate in the Blacks-In 1 Million Book Campaign reading initiative, helping them continue exploring books, strengthening reading skills, and developing a lasting appreciation for literature.
